How it works

One host. Any number of contributors.

Symphony carries finished contributor canvases into a host’s OBS production. It does not replace OBS and contributors do not publish to the host’s streaming platform.

1. The host prepares OBS

The person producing and publishing the final stream uses stock OBS Studio with the free Symphony plugin. The host creates one Symphony Remote Source for each contributor.

2. Each contributor builds a canvas

A desktop or laptop contributor uses OBS Studio with the same free plugin. An Android contributor uses Symphony Mobile. Each person arranges the camera, microphone, browser, application, screen, images, or other supported elements they want to share.

3. Contributors connect to the host

Each contributor accepts the host’s invitation and sends one completed audio and video canvas to the host’s Symphony plugin. Desktop contributors do not need Symphony Mobile. Mobile contributors require Symphony Mobile on Android and the free plugin on the receiving OBS machine.

4. The host directs every source

Every contributor appears independently in OBS. The host can place, resize, crop, filter, layer, mute, hide, mix, or remove one contributor without affecting the others.

5. Only the host publishes

The host combines the Symphony sources with local OBS sources and sends the final production to Twitch, YouTube, or another destination already supported by the host’s OBS setup.

Example: Seven people can participate from seven locations. One is the OBS host. Six contributors each send one canvas from OBS plus Symphony Plugin or from Symphony Mobile. The host receives six independent Symphony sources and publishes the combined show.
