Entourage Desktop operating guide

Every Desktop control, from first launch to live production.

This guide documents the released Windows desktop application. It is a reference for proven Entourage capabilities, not the interface or implementation specification for Entourage Online.

Install and update

1. Download the current Windows installer from the release card.
2. Run the installer and keep the default Entourage application folder unless you have a reason to change it.
3. For an update, install the new version over the existing version. Layouts, character presets, routing, remembered authorization, and user preferences are stored separately from the program files.
4. Launch Entourage from the Start menu or installed application shortcut. The local Kokoro speech runtime warms up early so it is ready when speech is requested.

The control panel

Drag any unused area of the floating panel to move it. Resize from its edges. The eye button hides the panel to a small translucent control in the upper-left corner; hover and click that control to restore it. Collapsible sections remember their state and normally begin collapsed.

Top toolbar

• Settings: window, graphics, frame-rate, and pronunciation options.
• Add: creates a new Character Viewer.
• Visibility and mute: toggle the cast without interrupting speech progress.
• Recall: brings character viewers back into the panel.
• Snap: enables soft magnetic snapping to the stage edges and other viewers while moving or resizing.
• Automatic speaker: presents the currently speaking viewer at its saved canvas position.
• Eye: hides the control panel.

Playback row

• Pause / Resume: pause or continue current speech playback.
• Stop: emergency stop for current speech, pending speech, reward sequences, and reward sound effects.
• Skip: discard the rest of the current response.
• Next: stop the current WAV and advance to the next prepared WAV.

Character Viewers and presets

A Character Viewer is one canvas position that can contain multiple reusable character presets. The viewer controls placement and size; each preset controls identity, model, appearance, voice, and its own camera framing for Jane or John.

Viewers can use the online Character Creator to save their own identity and share its character code with a streamer.

• Use Jane + or John + to add a completely independent preset.
• Use Copy to duplicate the selected preset, Save to export it, and Load to import a preset file.
• Select a preset in the viewer to edit or preview it. Removing a preset does not delete other presets in the viewer.
• The viewer header controls canvas visibility, mute, viewer duplication, deletion, selection, and expansion.
• Drag the viewer’s reorder handle in the panel to change list order.

Appearance

Expand Appearance, choose Jane or John under Model, and use Preview when the preset is not currently on the canvas. Hair, eyes, and clothing use full color pickers with hue, saturation, value, and hexadecimal color. Skin uses six pre-baked tone textures plus saturation. Changes save to the preset even when it is not currently visible.

Voice

Expand Voice and search or filter the 50 bundled voices by language. Entourage includes female and male voices across American English, British English, Spanish, French, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, and Mandarin Chinese. Pitch, speed, and volume are independent per preset. Type a spinner value directly, use the mouse wheel while focused, click once for one increment, or hold plus/minus to accelerate.

Character input

• Codex: paste a task GUID or codex://threads/… deep link to read newly written assistant messages from that local task.
• Text file: browse to a file; newly appended text is read after watching begins.
• Animate only: performs supplied audio/lip-sync behavior without generating TTS for that preset. It does not block other characters from being selected.

Working on the canvas

• Left-drag: move a selected viewer; drag its edges or corners to resize.
• Middle-drag: pan the character inside its viewer.
• Right-drag: rotate the character vertically or horizontally.
• Mouse wheel: zoom the character inside the viewer.
• Click: select one viewer. Shift-click adds, Ctrl-click toggles, and Alt-click removes it from the selection.
• Marquee: drag on empty canvas to select multiple viewers. Click empty canvas or press Escape to clear selection.

A thin cyan frame and resize indicators mark selected viewers. A separate pulsing speaking frame appears only when multiple viewers make speaker identification useful.

Layouts

Layouts preserve viewers, contained character presets, canvas transforms, camera framing, routing, voices, appearances, panel placement, and production settings.

• Save Layout / Load Layout: export or import a JSON layout. Entourage remembers the last folder used.
• Align: align selected viewers by left, center, right, top, middle, or bottom edge.
• Same size: match selected widths or heights.
• Space H / Space V: distribute selected viewers evenly on an axis.
• Grid: choose rows and columns, then place selected viewers left-to-right and top-to-bottom. Unused cells remain empty.

The current local layout is also saved automatically and restored on the next launch.

Chat Routing

Each platform has a default Character Viewer and default character. Messages without a specific assignment use that default. Add routing entries when one or more comma-separated usernames should use a saved character instead. Usernames are matched without case sensitivity and may contain valid platform characters such as underscores.

Show only the current chat speaker turns the chosen default viewer into a switching stage position: Entourage applies the matching saved preset to that one viewer and leaves the last speaker visible until another routed speaker replaces it. Other unrelated viewers on the canvas are not hidden.

Pause Chat Intake drops newly arriving chat before it enters the speech queue while keeping platform connections alive. It is separate from playback Pause. Entourage also caps pending chat and expires stale unspoken messages.

Chat Connections

Twitch

1. Enter the channel login to monitor.
2. Choose Connect Twitch. Use the browser button beside the displayed authorization address and enter the device code.
3. Entourage remembers the authorization and reconnects automatically when possible.
4. Choose the default viewer and character in Chat Routing, then add any username-specific routes you want.

Twitch moderation events remove queued deleted messages and messages from users who are timed out or banned. Clearing chat clears matching pending chat.

Kick and YouTube beta connections

Each connection separates account authorization from the channel being monitored. Enter the channel, connect, complete authorization in the default browser, and configure its default/routed characters in Chat Routing. These integrations remain labeled beta until their final live account verification is complete.

Channel Point Rewards

Connect and authorize Twitch before managing rewards. Rewards created by a different Twitch application can be viewed but must be managed by the application that created them.

• Create: define title, description, point cost, color, enabled/paused state, viewer-input requirement, per-stream and per-user limits, cooldown, and queue behavior.
• Reward action: optionally assign creator text, allow viewer text, choose which is spoken first, select the default Character Viewer and character, attach one local WAV or MP3 sound effect, preview it, and set its volume.
• Playback order: when both text lines are present, the sound effect plays between them. The complete reward sequence is held together so ordinary chat cannot enter between its lines.
• Routing: the creator and redeeming viewer are resolved through normal chat routing first, allowing their saved profiles to speak their own text when available.
• Manage: newly created rewards open automatically and scroll into view. Collapse, expand, test, duplicate, enable/disable, edit, or delete rewards created by Entourage.

OBS production

1. Arrange the Entourage window and stage at the resolution you plan to capture.
2. Add Entourage to OBS with the Windows capture source appropriate to your production.
3. Crop or position the source so only the intended stage is shown; hide the control panel if it should not be visible.
4. Capture Entourage’s application audio through your working OBS audio route and perform a level check before going live.
5. Use the starfield as the stage background, or compose/crop Entourage with the rest of your OBS scene as desired.

Settings and persistence

• Choose 960×540, 1280×720, or 1600×900 window size.
• Choose Very Low, Low, or Medium graphics quality and a 30 FPS, 60 FPS, or Unlimited frame cap.
• Open Pronunciation replacements to edit source=phonetic replacement rules. Comments begin with # or ;.
• Entourage stores settings in the Windows user profile and saves changes during normal use and shutdown. Program updates do not intentionally overwrite user layouts or presets.
